How I GO Further

Many thanks to those who followed my poignant journey to Uganda and Tanzania. I return filled with lasting memories, bittersweet emotions and a call to action. Despite feelings of frustration and disbelief with the non-existent infrastructure and government failure to support its peoples' basic needs, I am incredibly inspired by the faith, hope and sheer perseverance of Peter and the farmers in the village outside Masaka. They are undeterred by their obstacles to a basic human right – clean, accessible water. I stood at the cleanest water source near the farm and watched many young children and women scoop mud-colored unsanitary water with their hands into jerrycans for drinking, washing and cooking. My goal and promise to Peter is to make this water a safe, protected source for the 300+ people who rely on it every day. For four thousand dollars, we can drill deep enough to access clean water, protect it and install a hand pump. An y donation you can make to help me reach my goal is greatly appreciated. One hundred percent of the proceeds raised will go to building the well. It's only one well of many needed, but it's a start.

Much love and peace,

Michelle

about my project

Building Farms in Uganda

Food security is lacking throughout the developing world. Their idea? Start a model development farm where you train rural farmers modern agriculture techniques. Then form farmer cooperatives to scale their businesses.

Since 2005, GO has partnered with The Uganda Rural Community Support Foundation, URCSF, in Masaka, Uganda to leverage local skill sets by training subsistence farmers in traditional and sustainable farming methods at a model farming cooperative. The model farm is used both as a training center and a community center for all program participants.
