about me

How I GO Further

I am Founder of Sao Sary Foundation (SSF) based in Cambodia. I founded SSF in 2006 after working nearly a decade for various international NGOs, the most prominent being Church World Services. My efforts have been documented by the BBC and I also recently represented Cambodia during the Asia 21 Young Leaders Summit 2010.

I spend 100% of my time to tackle the root causes of child abuse, exploitation and trafficking. You know in Kampong Speu province where our office bases, 48% of population have unsafe water source, 73% of population have unsafe water source during dry season, Average numbers of people that use one well are 111, 92% of population haven't accessed to water filters yet, and there is only 44% boil water before drinking. More needs to be done to promote sanitation and to further improve access to safe drinking water in this province, to reduce the risks of child death, and to reduce existing levels of child morbidity and malnutrition.

about my project

Preventing Human Trafficking in Cambodia

Cambodia is recovering from decades of war and human trafficking is a great threat. Their idea? Stop it before it starts by giving people a sustainable source of income with clean water wells that fuel thriving farms.

Water is a crucial commodity to life. The Wells of Opportunity project provides clean water to rural Cambodians in the Kampong Speu province to provide economic independence and improve health. The project also aims to limit the financial burdens resulting from water access that ultimately cause families to engage in desperate behaviors such as trafficking themselves or their children.
